This summer I was focused on learning new things to improve my teaching in the classroom.  One week in August I was lucky to go to the Sustainability Conference at Oregon State.  At the conference I learned some amazing new things and I relearned some that I had forgotten about.  I hope to share them with you this year.  Here is a quick peak at what we will talk about this year.

Did you know that there is a huge gyro of garbage in the middle of the pacific filled with bits and pieces of plastic?
Did you know that there is a company in Oregon that collects yard planters and turns them back into crude oil?
Did you know that there is a company in Corvallis that makes completely biodegradable bio-plastics?
Did you know that in the future we will be mining garbage dumps for plastic?

What do you know about these topics?

What did you learn this summer?
